My friend had sorted tickets for the last ever Genesis show. It was 2022 but I’d been obsessed since I got Genesis Live from 1973 in 1984. I never went out of my way to see them over the years. I said I only liked the early stuff. A crash on the M23 made me massively late. I’d booked a hotel less than a mile from the o2 but it was on the wrong side of the river. The only way to get there in time was a queue jumping solo trip on an emirates cable car for £90 so please buy this track on bandcamp. But it was worth it. There in the sky was this liminal moment. Nothing to do but stop and look. Nobody to talk to. Anticipation but forced to wait. Air between the spokes of a wheel. Genesis weren’t as good as I imagine they were in the olden days but it was a beautiful end.
I really like the music I put with this video. Just a couple of synths, a guitar and a piano. Nothing really in time or in it’s right place. Just a feeling. If you listen closely you might think it’s bad. But if you don’t really listen it might be pretty good.
